CLUB MEMBERSHIP FEES:
The current membership fee for Sutherland Shire Canoe Club is $55.00 per year. Existing members are given a $10 discount if they pay their renewal fee before July 31st.
John Eades (Treasurer) recommended we keep the current fees and this was agreed.
Steve proposed a new affiliate membership fee of $20 for country members who do not use our club’s facilities. Paddle NSW has a new membership structure with no “direct memberships” meaning all PaddleNSW members are encouraged to join a club. The meeting agreed to offer affiliate memberships.
Australian Canoeing/Paddle NSW require clubs to charge potential members $20 for 3 x trial day sessions. $10 of this fee is remitted to AC/Paddle NSW. There was some discussion about running a register for trial memberships. John Eades advised the secretary needs to submit the paperwork to Dept of Fair Trading
NEW PFD RULES:
It was decided to introduce two rules relating to PFDs –
That all paddlers involved with the club must wear PFDs when paddling beyond “The Island” towards Como. The demarcation point is 100m downstream from “The Island”
All participants in club races, including the Time Trial Series, must wear PFDs when racing. For purposes of clarity, “wear PFD” means the same requirements that Roads and Maritime Services would apply if you were 100 metres from shore.
The existing rule remains that trial members must wear a PFD at all times on the water.
ITEMS RELATING TO BRUCE and JOAN:
The Club is about to receive items relating to Australian Canoeing and the SSCC Archival Material. Albert G and John E volunteered to go through the material and sort out relevant material that should be kept.
REVIEW and REPLACEMENT of CLUB EQUIPMENT:
The meeting agreed to put aside $7000 for replacement of club boats with kayaks and canoes that are more suitable for beginner paddlers in their first 3 months of paddling. Club owned PFDs and paddles may also need to be replaced. The TC2 that belonged to Joan and Bruce will be donated to a club in Victoria that still races this class. The review will be undertaken by the committee. John Eades moved that $7000 be made available for this purpose. This was seconded by Ross Bingle. Carried.
Will be held on 28th November at Kareela Golf Club
There was no further business and the meeting closed at 12.15pm.
